What sort of composting bin can I get?
There are two main ways in which you can carry out your composting. The first is by using a passive composting method. This involves taking either a wooden or plastic container or structure and then simply starting to fill it with the materials that you want to compost. While this is an effective method to make compost, it is quite slow and it will be quite some time before you can use your first batch of compost.
What can I do to make the process faster?
If you use a tumbling composter then you can take advantage of the active composting technique. The Rotating Compost Bin is mounted on a spit-like A-frame that enables you to spin the bin by using a handle that is mounted on the side.
How does using a Tumbling composter help?
By spinning the rotating composting bin you are circulating air through the composting mixture and promoting bacteria to multiply and so the more bacteria there are the quicker they will break down the material in the bin and the sooner you will have your compost. While this is a much faster method of producing compost than by using the passive method, you will have to ensure that you spin your compost bin on a regular basis otherwise you will not be making the most of the active process.
